Clonlara School, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Locations

The Clonlara School philosophy is that a school must empower students to participate purposefully and eagerly in their own education. We believe that learning begins with curiosity. Our experience in providing an open environment that fosters creativity has confirmed our belief that children learn best when their interests guide their activities. Clonlara School believes that parents have the right and ability to educate their own children.

Clonlara School views the world as the classroom and considers the learning environment integral to the learning process. We believe that a school should allow its students to participate in the design and application of the curriculum. We believe that academic learning and the mastery of skills are not limited by the location in which they are sought, either in a school or at home. Our approach to education leads to a lifelong love of learning.

Clonlara School is welcoming: We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender, nationality or ethnic origin in administration of our educational and admissions policies.

Why Would a Student Choose Clonlara?
Small class size. Friendly, inclusive environment. Vibrant and flexible multi-age learning community.  Quality of staff time and attention. Frequent field trips. Holistic approach to education: We do not limit our attention and instruction only to academic needs. We accommodate many varieties of learning and are particularly adept with a hands-on approach.

We Honor the Whole Child
We believe that a child's unique interests, talents, learning styles and goals should guide his or her education. Every aspect of growth - physical, spiritual, mental and psychological - deserves attention.

Study at Clonlara School

Clonlara School Campus Program offers many options to meet various learning needs (in a private school setting). While alternative education choices mean different things to different families, for us it means we meet our students and families where they are at and build a tailored program that matches the student's individual learning style, encompasses their interests and desires, and offers a positive structure to help each student thrive. It also means if you have a gifted learner we can challenge them and meet their needs. Or if you have a learner who has learning differences, we can meet them where they are at and support their needs.

We Empower Students and Encourage Independence

Our students take charge of their education. By design, Clonlara does not have a preset curriculum. Instead, our students have flexibility and freedom to choose HOW they learn - so it fits them. They are not locked into a specific textbook or online course. You and your student have authentic power over the student's education and school experience.

Clonlara School is partnered with the Youth International program run through the Universal English Language Institute (UELI) for students to learn the English language and readying students to matriculate into the Clonlara School classrooms.

Students enroll in both programs, begin with Youth International on the Clonlara campus, and once the student’s language skills are proficient enough, students join in the integrated classrooms. Through Youth International students receive 25 hours per week of instruction to strengthen their English skills from conversation to written abilities. We have a Homestay program to provide an immersion housing option. Programs start every 4 weeks.
