North Cedar Academy English Plus Summer Camp, Ladysmith, Wisconsin

Locations

North Cedar Academy English Immersion

The goal of the North Cedar English Immersion Summer Camp is to develop and expand the camper’s English language skills while introducing the camper to a lifelong love of outdoor recreation. Some of the activities the campers will experience are boating, canoeing, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, orienteering, and cookouts. The camp is located on the beautiful, 94 acre North Cedar Academy campus in northern Wisconsin.

Each camp will have a two-day overnight outdoor camping experience!

English language skills are improved through a dual-focus approach. First, campers are engaged in English literature (reading), composition (writing), and speech (reporting) through individual and group projects. Second, is a strong English Second Language (ESL) program which takes our camper’s English language skills into real world application. In our ESL program, campers will focus on the language of our recreational activities and then later use the language as they participate in the specific recreational skills and activities of the day, thus reinforcing the classroom learning. Each day we require our campers to write in a journal (provided) a summary of their recreational activities. This is part of their English Language life skill preparation. Each student will report out the following morning in their English/ESL classes. We allow time during the three open time periods in the evening for campers to reflect and journal.
