The Dual Degree Program: Two Engineering Degrees in One

Stand out to employers with two respected degrees from two universities on your resume. The Dual Degree Program lets you earn a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Oglethorpe and a specialized engineering baccalaureate degree from one of our partner engineering schools. With this unique option, you only spend five years studying for two degrees – and you get to experience life at two different universities.

Spend a Year Studying at the World’s Number 1 University: Oxford University in the UK 

Take advantage of another fantastic opportunity from Oglethorpe to broaden your educational and life experience. During your degree, you can apply to study at the UK’s most prestigious university – for a semester or an academic year. The program allows you to attend Oxford University as an associate student. You will live with international students in Oxford housing and enjoy university privileges.

Student Housing

Students can live in one of seven residences. All on-campus housing allows students to quickly integrate and make friends. The rooms are furnished, and will be shared with roommates. The Gables apartments, for sophomores and up, come unfurnished but offer resort-style living.

Scholarships Available

Scholarships based on academic criteria are available to Direct Admission (based on high school grade point average) or International Year (based on grade point average in IY credit-bearing courses) students who meet the following minimum grade point average (GPA) requirements:

US$ 2,500 Robinson Scholarship: 2.5-2.9 cumulative GPA
US$ 5,000 Sheffield Scholarship: 3.0-3.4 cumulative GPA
US$ 7,000 Weltner Scholarship: 3.5-4.0 cumulative GPA

These awards are renewable provided the student earns a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at Oglethorpe. Students’ GPAs will be evaluated at the end of each spring semester. 

StudyUnitedStates EU and Oglethorpe are pleased to offer a merit-based scholarship of US$ 3,000 to International Year students who meet the minimum grade point average requirement of 3.0.

Oglethorpe International Study Center offers the International Year, a pathway program that provides progression to the second (sophomore) year of your degree when you successfully complete the program with the required grades. You can join the International Study Center for two or three semesters depending on your level of English. During the program, you’ll focus on your major while boosting your language and study skills, the Intensive English Program takes place during the first semester in the International Study Center. Students with lower-level English will develop their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to prepare them for university classes.

Our International Year program is for ambitious international students like you. The International Year program incorporates special coursework during your first year of study to prepare you for success in the pursuit of your Oglethorpe degree. You’ll also start developing the career skills you need to succeed in your future.

Once you complete the International Year, you can choose your degree, whether that's as a Major or bespoke Major/Minor combination.

Entry Requirements

You will need to meet the entry requirements of the International Study Center before joining us. 

International Year: Age: 17+
Academic: High school graduate, minimum GPA of 2.5
English language: Minimum IELTS score of 5.0 (or equivalent)

Direct Entry to Your Degree

If you meet the academic requirements of the University and the higher English language requirements below (or speak English as a first language), you can apply directly to an undergraduate degree program.

IELTS: 6.5 overall, or TOEFL: 79, or Password: 62, or Embassy: C1

These international student fees apply to students during the International Year program. After progressing to Oglethorpe University, you will pay international student fees set by the University.
