At Cushing Summer Session, you choose the classes and activities that best meet your academic and personal goals, interests, and learning style. Cushing Summer Session offers a limited number of spaces for a 3-week day or boarding option in the following programs:
- Excel (classes for enrichment only)
- Connect (Academic skill-building classes)
- Immerse (English language immersion classes)
- Express/Create (Visual and Performing Arts classes)
- Explore (Middle school enrichment classes)
Of course, after working hard in class all day, we like to have some fun!
Cushing Academy exists for students and develops curious, creative, and confident learners and leaders. Founded in 1865, Cushing is a co-ed, college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 and PG. Our students, who come from over 30 states and 30 countries, excel in our outstanding academic, art, and athletic offerings. We welcome you to visit our community and beautiful 162-acre campus in Ashburnham, Mass., just one hour from Boston, to experience all that Cushing has to offer.
Activities:
On Campus Weekend Activities: Students do not have to leave campus to have fun on the weekend. We offer a wide array of exciting and engaging on-campus activities and events, including: Concerts on the Common, outdoor movies on the football field, ice skating in our superb ice arena, and dances in various venues around campus. And let’s not forget billiards, air hockey, TV, and video games in our newly renovated Student Center!
Week I - Summer Celebration
To kick off our first full weekend together, the campus comes alive with exciting games, fun activities, and lots of opportunities to make new friends.
Week II - Saturday in Boston
Join us for this exciting trip while we experience the wonderful sights in Boston! This optional, chaperoned trip includes a tour of historical Boston, along with shopping, museums, and sight-seeing.
The cost of US$ 325 includes transportation to and from Boston, theater tickets, a city tour, and dinner on Saturday.
Week III - International Evening
International Evening is a celebration of the rich cultural diversity at Cushing during the Summer Session. During the first week of classes, students and advisors begin rehearsing songs, skits, and dances representative of their cultures.
Students must arrive on registration day, June 28, 2020, and depart campus on Saturday, July 18, 2020.Students enrolled in the 3-week program are fully immersed in the Summer Session experience, including morning classes, afternoon electives, and campus activities.
Dates: 3 week session July 2- July 22, 2023
5 week session July 2 - August 4, 2023
Price for 3 week boarding including tuition is US$ 6,500 plus a required activity fee of US$ 125.
Price for 5 week boarding including tuition is US$ 9,500 plus a required activity fee of US$ 175.
The tuition and any required fees cover the following:
- All morning program classes and workshops and all afternoon classes and activities plus On-campus social and athletic activities
- All Meals, a furnished dormitory room plus linens
- All books and supplies, an athletic practice uniforms
- Three- or five- week health insurance supplement
- Bus transportation for all off-campus activities, events, and excursions, plus an educational field trip in Week 2
