Summer@Farragut

Beginning in the summer of 2014, Admiral Farragut Academy will launch Summer@Farragut, a one-of-a-kind four-week boarding experience for students entering grades 9-12. The program, which will run June 29 - July 27, will give students an opportunity to gain academic credits in a focused and fun learning environment while enjoying...

Great Location: The school’s waterfront campus in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida allows for hands-on marine science labs as well as aquatic activities including sailing, kayaking, and fishing. 

Courses & Credits: Summer@Farragut will allow students to advance, at an accelerated pace, through for-credit courses. Alternatively, they can make up credits required for graduation. Each course is equal to one full year credit. Courses include: Algebra I & II, Aviation, Creative Writing, Geometry, Pre-Calculus & Calculus, ESL I & II, Marine Science, Sailing, SAT Prep, Scuba, and TOEFL Test Prep.

Dorms & Activities: Students will enjoy a full service dining hall, numerous athletic and workout facilities, and 2, 3- or 4-person dorm rooms each with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and WiFi access. Additionally, Summer@Farragut will provide a fun, recreational component including waterfront activities, cookouts, visits to theme parks, and beach trips.

Facts About Farragut

 

  • Admiral Farragut Academy was founded in 1933.
  • College preparatory, co-ed, grades PreK-12 with boarding offered in grades 8-12.
  • Campus is located on 35 acres with waterfront access on Boca Ciega Bay.
  • Two of the 12 U.S. astronauts who have walked on the moon are graduates of Admiral Farragut Academy: Alan Shepard, Class of 1941, Charlie Duke, Class of 1953.
  • In 1992, Farragut Hall was designated as a historical landmark by the City of St. Petersburg.
  • In 2010 our campus was the location for the Veteran’s Hospital in the Warner Brother's film Dolphin Tale starring Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick, Jr., and Ashley Judd.
